Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that combines R&B with soul, gospel music, and R&B. She's performed on Broadway as well as during the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine was born Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta but she is from Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing as well as playing the piano at the church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical training began on the Atlanta's R&B Scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single with her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released only in Japan and was later remixed by numerous producers and is a staple of her live sets. Her voice also appeared on the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. The band was hired as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer) offered her the position of choral conductor of Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine gained national recognition for several performances throughout the Democratic National Convention in 2008. She was invited to perform as part of Obama's inaugural ceremony in 2009.
